A Spring Wedding at Bosona Events — Mr. & Mrs. Hiller | April 24, 2026

There is something about an April wedding in Nebraska. We all hold our breath and pray for the perfect day. Historically, April in Nebraska can be like opening a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. The whole month can turn on you — one day it's sunshine, the next it's grey skies and wind that makes outdoor ceremonies feel like a fever dream. So when a couple chooses a spring date, they are doing something brave.

The Hillers didn't just get a beautiful day. They got a perfect one.

Clear skies. Still air. Not a single gust of wind. Their Friday wedding was exactly what we all dream of. The day before an entire weekend of rain and clouds. Their wedding day arrived like it had been on purpose.

When Things Go Sideways — And Nobody Knows

Here's the thing about wedding days: the ones that look completely seamless from the outside are almost never seamless behind the scenes. There is always something, and honestly, I think that's what makes them so raw and beautiful.

What many of us didn't see, right before the ceremony, a candle caught a centerpiece on fire inside the venue. Like, actually on fire. The team at Bosona Events got it handled so fast that by the time the guests outside had even started to wonder what the holdup was, it was completely over. Nobody sitting outside in those chairs had any idea. They were just out there soaking up the sunshine, blissfully unaware that there had been an actual fire situation happening twenty feet away.

The fact that the whole thing got handled so quietly, and so quickly, without a single guest ever knowing — that says everything about the team the Hillers chose. You can have the most beautiful venue and the most stunning flowers, but if the people around you can't stay calm when something unexpected happens, it shows.

The Venue: Bosona Events in Bennet, Nebraska

Bosona Events sits just outside Lincoln in Bennet, Nebraska, just about 15 minutes east of town. It's a modern, spacious venue with both indoor and outdoor settings, and a team that clearly knows how to handle whatever a wedding day brings. The aesthetic is clean and modern, and the outdoor ceremony space catches the light in all the right ways when Nebraska actually cooperates. And no, it's not a barn! I know that's a super big selling point for most couples!

If you're a Nebraska couple looking for a venue that feels elevated without feeling stuffy, Bosona is absolutely worth a tour.

The Details That Made It Beautiful

Every element of this wedding was intentional, from the florals (that caught on fire) to the cake, and the vendor team they assembled did not miss a beat.

House of Flowers handled the florals and they looked absolutely stunning! House of Flowers has been serving Lincoln since 1908 and their work speaks for itself. The arrangements were lush, romantic, and entirely worth the drama.

The stationery came from Truly Engaging, which offers beautifully customizable wedding paper. From invitations, save the dates, programs, all fully personalized and crafted with real care. First impressions matter on a wedding day, and theirs started well before guests ever arrived at the venue.

The bride's gown was from Rhylan Lang Bridal in Omaha's Old Market. This Bridal boutique is one of the most curated boutiques in the Midwest, carrying designers like Made With Love, Rue De Seine, and Hayley Paige. When I first saw her in the garment bag, I knew it was going to be a show stopper! She came through Bosona's double doors on her father's arm, and all the guests just paused.

For catering, Chef au Chef nailed it out of the park again! Their food is the kind that keeps guests talking all night. If you're from Lincoln, you know they're a staple for a reason. Their menus are customizable, and the quality of ingredients are top notch.

At the reception, the dance floor was in good hands with Revel Events Midwest, a Lincoln-based DJ and event entertainment company with over 15 years of experience. They kept the energy exactly right all evening.

The cake was made by Butterfly Bakery in Lincoln, an inclusive, community-focused bakery specializing in high-end custom wedding cakes. They were named Best Wedding Cake at the 2025 Nebraska Wedding Day Magazine awards and 2025 Lincoln Choice Awards for Best Bakery. I have personally used them myself too, and every one I've seen work with them walks away obsessed. This one was no exception. Just saying!

Their floral backdrop was provided by D&C Event Rentals and Planning, and every installation contributed to that finished, cohesive look that makes a reception feel designed rather than assembled.

About the Photography

As for the photography, these were taken by yours truly! If we've never met, take this as my formal introduction. Hey it's me, Christa! I'm the lead photographer behind Christa Schiessl Photo Co., and I am so honored the Hillers trusted me with their wedding day.

My approach blends directed portraits, prompted candids, and documentary-style ceremony and reception coverage — which means you get images that are beautiful and real. Images that look like you. Images that capture not just what happened, but how it felt. The chaos behind the scenes. The stillness before the ceremony. The moment the groom saw the bride come around the corner and the world got very quiet.

The Hillers planned a wedding day that had everything — story, beauty, emotion, and more than a little adventure. I cannot wait for them to see what we captured together.
