The Moments You Can’t Script (and the Surprise We Didn’t See Coming)

There is a specific kind of silence that happens right before a bride walks down the aisle. It’s not a quiet silence—it’s a joyful solitude. It’s filled with the sound of a rustling dress, a sharp inhale of breath, and maybe a distant bird chirping outside.

In that moment, I’m usually holding my breath right along with you. My husband is adjusting his lens to catch the exact second your partner’s expression shifts from nervous to awestruck.

We’ve been lucky enough to stand in that silence hundreds of times. We’ve seen the tears that weren't supposed to fall and the laughter that erupted when the ring wouldn't quite slide onto the finger. We’ve made it our life’s work to be the keepers of these "blink-and-you’ll-miss-it" memories.

But recently, something happened that turned the lens back on us, and honestly? We’re still pinching ourselves.

The Sacred Access of Wedding Photography

I talk a lot about "attention to detail" because, in wedding photography, the details are where the soul lives. It’s not just about the lace on your gown or the centerpieces on the tables at your Omaha reception. It’s about the way your hand shakes a little when you’re reading your vows. It’s about the look of pure pride on your grandpa’s face during the toasts.

To be a wedding photographer or videographer is to be invited into an inner circle. You aren't just hiring a vendor; you’re inviting a human being into the most intimate, raw, and high-stakes hours of your life.

When my husband and I started Christa Schiessl Photo Co., we made a promise: we would never treat a wedding like "just another Saturday." We wanted to be a calming force. We wanted to be the team that noticed the tear your dad wiped away when no one was looking. We wanted to provide a seamless experience where the photo and video work together, not against each other.

Because at the end of the day, once the flowers have faded and the thank-you notes are sent, your photos and videos are the only things you actually get to keep.

A Community That Feels Like Family

Serving couples in the Lincoln and Omaha area is a dream. There is something so special about the Midwest wedding community—the kindness, the genuine joy, and the way everyone comes together to celebrate a new legacy.

Because we pour so much heart into every gallery, we usually keep our heads down and focus on the work. We focus on the next engagement session, the next timeline consultation, and the next wedding day.

However, a few weeks ago, we received some news that made us stop in our tracks.

The Big Reveal: Best of Lincoln

I am so incredibly humbled and excited to share that Christa Schiessl Photo Co. (aka Christa Schiessl Photography LLC) has been named one of the Top 3 Best Wedding Photographers in the Lincoln Journal Star’s "Best of Lincoln" awards!

To say this is an honor is an understatement. Being recognized by our community—by the very people we serve—is the ultimate "payoff" for all the late-night editing sessions and the miles we’ve driven across Nebraska to capture love stories.

We are currently sitting in the Top 3, and we will find out our final placement (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) at the end of April. Regardless of the final trophy, we already feel like we’ve won because of the support you’ve shown us.

Why This Matters for Our Future Couples

You might be wondering, "Christa, that’s great, but why does an award matter to me?"

It matters because it’s a reflection of the trust our couples have in us. It’s a promise that when you hire us, you are getting a team that is recognized for excellence, communication, and heart. Whether we are shooting a grand ballroom gala or a quiet backyard elopement, we bring that same "Top 3" energy to every single frame.

Let’s Celebrate Together (Watch Party?!)

Since we don’t find out the final results until the end of April, I think we need to keep the celebration going. We are tentatively planning a Watch Party to celebrate the final announcement.

Expect bubbles, treats, and a whole lot of gratitude. This isn't just our win—it’s yours, too. Without the couples who trust us with their most sacred days, there is no Christa Schiessl Photo Co.
