As many of you know...

As many of you may know, it’s been a long road to get to this place! In the past, fertility always came very easy to me with our first two girls. In fact, between my husband and I we used to joke that I was fertile myrtle (although looking back, fertility is really not a joking matter.) I had know idea that secondary infertility was a real thing.

After waiting a few years until my two girls were older, we decided we’d try again in 2019. It’s been no secret that we’ve been trying ever since as I’ve been incredibly open about my secondary infertility journey, which included several very hard losses. To say things got really real on Sunday was an understatement.

For many of you, you know someone, who has gone through something similar or have gone through infertility/loss yourself, and if it’s a trigger to you, feel free to stop reading now. I want to honor where you’re at in this moment.

To find out the gender of this baby at 32 weeks just made things a lot more real. For the last few months, we’ve been calling our baby “it”, which I hated doing, but it made it easier for us to detach if the unexpected would happen again. But we recently switched to calling our baby McLegend. (There’s a little bit of Super Bad involved here).

Ever since the beginning of this pregnancy, we’ve been holding our breath, not knowing whether or not we’d make it this far. In my business, I continued to book myself not knowing when I’d be having this baby because well, my infertility journey has been extremely unknown. Like, how do you plan for the unexpected?

Thankfully, throughout it all, we’ve hit every milestone with flying colors this time, which I am so grateful for! I am supported by many like minded photographers, who have had my back through it all, so if the unexpected did happen, I’d be covered.

I’m sure by now you’re thinking, what in the world does this have to do with photography?

Photography and life changes really go hand-in-hand, and I wanted to share my journey with you because life can be insanely beautiful or bring a time for slowing down and looking inward. These big milestones that we are so blessed to celebrate, need be honored, captured and told in a way that is raw and authentic to you.

So now that I’ve brought you through the hard part of today’s lessons, I am so excited to share with you our news!!
