Bar Scene Engagement 🤝 Notebook Date Night
There’s something so magical about engagement sessions that reflect a couple’s actual life—their favorite date spots, relaxed energy, and genuine laughs. Kacie and Josh brought all of that (and more!) to their Lincoln engagement session, and I’m still not over how dreamy it turned out.
We started the evening at Kate Martin, a favorite bar of theirs nestled in the heart of Lincoln. It’s got this vibey, artsy atmosphere with darker tones, cozy booths, and a well-lit bar that makes everything feel romantic and moody. Kacie wore a casual and cute top paired with jeans, and Josh looked effortlessly put-together in a light blue button-up. They ordered drinks and just did their thing—laughing, chatting, and soaking in the moment. I got to test out some new gear during this part of the session (thank you both for being my willing guinea pigs!), and the results were just chef’s kiss.
After a few shots inside, we stepped outside into the Haymarket District to catch that golden hour glow bouncing off the buildings. The brick, the textures, the soft evening light—it all gave the perfect city-chic energy before we switched things up.
Our second location was Pioneers Park, where we headed for more greenery and open space. Kacie had a vision for some nature-forward engagement portraits, and we made it happen near the roundabout entrance with the iconic buffalo statue as our backdrop. She changed into a gorgeous long dress from Francesca’s, a soft blush-pink with green detailing and the dreamiest movement. Think flowy twirls, barefoot-in-the-grass vibes, and warm summer light filtering through the trees. Josh coordinated perfectly with a muted mint green shirt, and together they looked so effortlessly in love.
Backstory? This session was originally planned for the week before, but a combo of rain and a post-vacation sunburn (oops!) had us reschedule. And honestly? I’m sooooo glad we did. The night we ended up with was stunning—clear skies, golden light, and the perfect energy between two people who are so excited to start their forever.
Kacie and Josh, I cannot wait for your wedding next June. If this session is any indication, your big day is going to be full of joy, romance, and laughter—and I’m so honored to be the one capturing it all.
